Tyne Idols Dates and Times for 2012

Tyne Idols presents An intimate evening of music with Rab Noakes
at Porters, Tynemouth Station
Rab Noakes first visited Tyneside from his native Fife to perform in Whitley Bay in 1969/70. It was then that he met Lindisfarne and a mutual friendship and admiration was forged. He was a founder member of Stealers Wheel with Gerry Rafferty and then went on to make many solo albums both in the UK and USA. He moved into radio and television production in the 1980s but has recently revived his performing and recording career and features regularly at events like Celtic Connections. Don't miss this rare treat.......

Saturday, 2 June — 'Night on the Tyne' River Cruise
Join us for an evening of entertainment with Ray Laidlaw and Chris Phipps as your hosts along with purveyors of fine Irish music and great Geordie songs, the Happy Cats, not to mention a fine pie and peas supper (if you would prefer a veggie pie you can let us know by mailing us in advance at info@tyneidols.com). You will be guided by Ray and Chris along the banks of the Tyne where we will find out about the colourful music and movie heritage associated with the river over the years. Bars will be open onboard.

Doors at 7pm — sail 7.30pm prompt — from the Pontoon next to the Pitcher & Piano bar on Newcastle Quayside, to return at approximately 11.15pm.

We have also for sale a limited amount of copies of the excellent 'Northstars' book, co-written by our very own Chris Phipps and Sid Smith, celebrating Newcastle's diversity of artists, musicians and rich musical heritage; and 'Fog On The Tyne, the Official History of Lindisfarne' by Dave Ian Hill. Both books are priced at only £10 each.
